St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patricks day is celebrated annually on March 17. Saint Patrick, who lived during the fifth century, is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. he was born in Roman Britain, then he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave at the age of 16. after he escaped he returned to Ireland and was credited with bringing Christianity to its people. In the centuries following Patrick’s death (believed to have been on March 17, 461), the mythology surrounding his life became ever more ingrained in the Irish culture: The most well-known legend is that he explained the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) using the three leaves of a native Irish clover, the shamrock. Today, people of all backgrounds celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, especially throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia. Although North America is home to the largest productions, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated in many other locations rather than just Ireland, Japan, Singapore, and Russia also contribute to celebrate as well. Some of the things they do to celebrate include, parades, festivals etc.. The Chicago River dyed the river green in honor for the holiday to make it more special. because of my background, ethnicity, and beliefs, I do not contribute to this holiday because I’m not part of the Irish culture, however, I respect and like the holiday and the people who support their beliefs. I do encourage this Holiday to keep being celebrated throughout the United States because our Irish population is growing and we should support them just as they respect and accept the rest of our holidays including Chinese New year, and Cinco De Mayo.
